Heart surgeon specialized in both Clinical and Cardiovascular Surgery, he performed surgery over more than 10.000 patients between Italy and USA. After a fellowship period at the Clinique de Chirurgie Cardiovasculaire in Paris, he moved to the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, where he worked for three years under the guidance of Dr. Denton A. Cooley.

In addition to medical activity, he conducted a large number of research projects in collaboration with the CNR, universities, international cardiac centers and biomedical industries.

Emeritus Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, inventor of several cardiovascular devices, in 2010 he invented the Heart Damper®. And, a few years later, with his daughter Francesca he founded Eucardia.

To Eucardia he bequeathed not only an ambitious development project, but also his vision: to improve the quality of life of a huge number of heart failure patients through a simple, elegant and revolutionary technology.
